Movie Cover

At school I've been studying Shakespeare in English and our most recent assessment item was an extended play on a character from Hamlet. So i thought I'd whip out my graphic design skills and blow everyone away with a beautiful hand made title page/cover. (To make up for my dodgy acting ofcorse) I'm still in the film/editing process so you will have to wait and see... But here is my cover :)

I had to learn a few new photoshop skills for this one. I used a bunch of watercolour brushes, and a mixture of text, photography and my own flower illustrations (which I scanned and uploaded then blended with photoshop) Hope you enjoy!

Design a Day: Day 8

I have been using photoshop lately, learning how to use the quick selection tool, blending modes and importing brushes like these water colour ones, used in this design.
This is a little sneak peak of my own branding design that I have been working on.
Hope you enjoy!

A Design a Day: Day 4

Here is a quick little design I threw together tonight, it does need improving and I will definitely do some more work on it. But I just felt like creating something cute so here it is...

What I learnt today was how to use the path finder for a pattern- just by creating a compound path.
Enjoy xx

A Design a Day: Day 5

I was in a little hurry today so I just played around with some geometric shapes and just got a bit creative adding some colour. I didn't really look at a tutorial for this one. Hope you enjoy...

Design a Day:Day 3

I was searching for a tutorial to make a nice background and this caught my eye straight away it was so pretty! I was also so excited to find how easy it was. I also learn a few photoshop skills making the background.
I found this photo on Pinterest that worked perfectly.

I added a Gaussian blur and an overlay of a pattern i created in illustrator, played around with the blending mode then added a grain. Once i finished the background, I added a quote from my friend that she asked me to do up after seeing yesterdays design. It turned out really well and she loves it!

A Design A Day: Day 2

Something I've been wanting to do for a while now is to work out how to get that chalkboard/vintage look to my designs. A bit like these...

Once i found a quote on Pinterest, I searched for a few vintage fonts on Dafont.com and downloaded these textures from Spoon Graphics. Other techniques I used were a slight radial gradient and a chalkboard stroke outline to the text. Here was the result...
TADAA!

I hope you enjoy and have a go yourself, I had heaps of fun!

I'm going to try learning different techniques, today I taught myself how to distribute objects around a circle using this tutorial. And this was the result...

How are you all anyway? I'd like to hear back from you! Comment what you'd like to see more of on my blog maybe some recipes, sewing tutorials, design tutorials, daily doings etc. You choose :)

Banner Artwork

At TAFE we have been doing some little activities called speed builders where we get 45 mins to whip up a design and show all our conceptualizing and book work as well as put together a rough computer graphic. I thought I might share one with you. All we got was the words "The grass in not always greener on the other side" and the dimensions for the banner ad. Here it is...

TAFE Update and My Artwork

I'm now in my second year of TAFE and I cant believe how quick the time has gone!! I promised earlier last year in this post that I would share some of my work so here is a few photos of a Dust Jacket that I'm currently working on. The brief was to combine photography and conceptual ideas to capture the letters A R and T and finish the title of Art is...something?(with relation to the photos) Then create a Duck Jacket using Adobe Indesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Here are the results...

I am so grateful that I got the opportunity to do this course. I'm creating a bunch of designs for my portfolio and I have learnt so much (and it's been super fun). Hope you have enjoyed taking a look at some of my work,
